OPNET is used as part of undergraduate lecture series on “Introduction to TCP/IP Networking” and “Wireless Networking” in addition to the graduate lecture course of “quality of service in mobile wireless and wired networks”. The use of different quality of service architectures in packet based networks is demonstrated through the use of OPNET Modeler.

Mobile ad hoc networks represent a major area of research of our group, in which OPNET is in full use within undergoing projects. Energy consumption impact and modeling of mobile nodes within 60 GHz radio interface is investigated. New proposals for improvements on the current IEEE 802.11 MAC protocol are modeled and tested using OPNET.
